Winchburgh is steeped in a long and illustrious past, steeped in the very fabric of Scottish history. Records date back to 1169 AD.
Twelve miles west of Edinburgh, it offers the best of semi-urban living and is one of the biggest, most exciting place-making projects anywhere in the UK in recent years.
I was tasked with creating a marque that would sit comfortably in both camps; existing residents who wanted to reference the history of the place, alongside those who would call Winchburgh their home in the future.
The logo took visual reference from the surroundings and kept the original date of existence as creating a new date of creation would be disingenuous. I worked with the existing community and a local historian to ensure a harmonious relationship moving forward.

Alongside housing, retail and schools, great care was taken to add parks, walks, bike routes and access to the canal.
